How do I protect myself from the yobs.?

Hay, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays going to my local town in hell....Chavs are everywhere hanging around outside the pubs, bars and night clubs...I am only 16 and I was walking home through it at about 8:00 which was not really late yet there were loads of chavs there and although I have never met any of them in my entire life they start yelling at me saying "Come on then!" "oi! Ya little ****!" Appartanly where I live it is supose to be a nice quiet area...turns out it aint. How can I stop getting abuse shouted at me by 20 year old drunk pikes? Do I have to look intimidating? What do I do? I worry that when I start clubbing in 2 years time that I will be in alot of fights just because of the random aggression which is everywhere I live.
