Did Dan Brown's book Angels and Demons cause any controversies?

I need to do a report on how this book has affected American life and i was wondering if it had any implications on soceity. Did it cause people to rethink what religion is? Did it cause people to wonder whether God was science or science was God? i want your answers on how this could have affected present society and what his intentions were with combing both elements of religion and science.
